Ubud - Bali's internationally acclaimed food bowl

Ubud - Bali's internationally acclaimed food bowl

Forget the tired old Nasi Goreng, a trip to Ubud is a food lover's dream come true.

The world's top chefs are clamouring to open restaurants here - some have already succeeded. Ubud plays host to some of the top-ranked restaurants in the world, with regular visits by Michelin-starred chefs.

Must try: Biah Biah - a little restaurant along Jl. Goutama in the centre of Ubud town serving unadulteratedly original Balinese favourites.

Stay at: Karma Mayura. Situated just outside of town along a bubbling mountain stream and overlooking traditional rice paddies, Mayura blends Balinese style with contemporary luxury.

Jaipur, India's famed Pink City, is famous for more than the colour of its buildings. The city is also the fragrant epicentre of Rajasthani cuisine.

The tough people of the Thar Desert produce some of the spiciest dishes anywhere in India, with thick, fragrant curries and deliciously stewed vegetables a daily mainstay.

Must try: Laal Maas – a fiery slow-cooked lamb stewed with hot red chillies and whole spices.

Stay at: Karma Haveli. Once a family palace of Rajasthani aristocracy, this relaxing retreat offers a serene oasis after a day spent exploring Jaipur's dynamic food culture.

Phuket's East Coast a fine dining hotspot

Phuket's East Coast a fine dining hotspot

Discerning travellers are turning away from the cookie-cutter resorts of Phuket's West Coast in favour of the East Coast's less developed - yet more refined- fine dining scene.

Diners can now experience Southern Thailand's fiery street-food style in opulent surrounds, with experienced western chefs applying French technique to traditional favourites.

Must try: Gaeng Tai Pla, an intensely pungent and spicy curry made with vegetables and fish.

Stay at: Karma Royal Boat Lagoon. Located beside a secluded lagoon that was once the best-kept secret of the world's luxury yachting elite.

Crete's unique history produces stunning flavours

Crete's unique history produces stunning flavours

As the southern-most island in Greece, Crete has had a long and diverse culinary history. So strong is the Cretan approach to food that the island's food culture has survived occupations by the Arabs, Venetians, and Ottomans.

Must try: Cretan Cheese, made exclusively from sheep or goat's milk. Varieties, look out for Graviera and Kefalograviera.

Stay at: Karma Minoan for 2018, a bougainvillaea-dressed slice of authentic Cretan country living.

Getting to Karma Bavaria: Important travel information for guests

For guests travelling to Karma Bavaria, in Schliersee, during the northern hemisphere's summer and autumn months up to and including the end of November 2017:

Major road construction works are taking place on all Bavarian motorways in both directions, especially along the A9 from N├╝rnberg to Munich, the A99 from FJS Airport to the south of Munich, and the A8 from Munich to Salzburg, Austria.

We advise guests to allow for slower than normal travel times by car (approx 2-3 hours one way) from FJS Airport to Schliersee, or where possible to take one of the many regular train services from Munich Hbf station directly to Schliersee - a total travel time of 52 minutes.

We wish you a pleasant trip!
