“Greetings to all, have just returned from a excellent 2 weeks at Karma Royal Boat Harbour in Phuket. This is the second time we have been there, the first time about 2 years ago, we stayed in a two bedroom villa, this time we had a one bedroom Premier Marina View Studio Apartment, the apartment was large with plenty of room, clean and tidy, with all the essentials that you would expect, there was a balcony with lounges and table and chairs overlooking the marina, the apartment was serviced twice a day with a turndown service at night, a packet of nibbles, a weather report and details of the next day's activities. poolside there is a nice small restaurant serving drinks and meals.

Karma Royal Phuket is situated in a quiet secluded boat harbour, well out of the madding croud, there is plenty to do or nothing but relax, in the cool of the evening we went for walks, lots of coffee shops, restaurants and bars but we ate most nights at the resort restaurant where the food was excellent.

Must congratulate all the staff and workers, everybody was happy and ready to help if needed, we had a bit of drama with the airline loosing one of our cases but with the efficient help of Jian on the desk we had it delivered to our apartment next day. Thanks to all at Karma for making our holliday so enjoyable”

“Recently my husband and I stayed at Royal Bali Beach Club in Jimbaran and Royal Bali Beach Club at Sanur. Both hotels were amazing, the service we received whilst on our honeymoon was great.

At Jimbaran the reception manager (forgot his name) was amazing and accommodated us when we had to move rooms due to a broken air conditioner that leaked. At Sanur there were a few people who made our holiday great (honeymoon) they were Feby who was training there. She was funny and got to know us so it felt personalised.

We read reviews about both resorts prior to staying and there were negative reviews however we thought both these resorts were great and we would return.

“My partner and I recently had the opportunity to stay at the new Karma Cay Tre resort in Hoi An, Vietnam. What a great choice we made to introduce us to this country. Vietnam had been on our bucket list for some time, so we grabbed the opportunity when it arose. Having excess points, we actually gave our Parish priest a week’s stay at the resort before we made it there. He absolutely raved positive about his stay, from the staff to the locals, the Vietnamese cuisine etc. Having become accustomed to the high standards of Royal/Odyssey resorts, we wondered whether Karma Cay Tre was just meeting the standard we have come to expect. No, Karma Cay Tre exceeded our expectations well and truly. And that is not a negative against other Karma resorts, Karma Cay Tre was just that good. This resort is quite exceptional, Karma Cay Tre took it to a new level! Having travelled extensively throughout the world, I can honestly say that the staff at this resort are second to none. They are so keen to please, friendly, respectful, helpful with suggestions, funny…my list could go on for ages. They taught me various phrases in Vietnamese which brought a lot of laughs. The girls sorted out our tours in a flash and gave us a lot of information about Hoi An. They even got involved in helping us with our flights when our carrier cancelled a flight. I would stay here again just to experience their service without anything else! Our room, which had recently been refurbished was tastefully furnished, comfortable with more than a touch of luxury and class. The domestic staff were every bit as amiable and helpful as the reception staff. We wanted for nothing, our every need was met and we enjoyed our stay here so very much. The pool area is also very pleasant, there were sufficient lounges and a bar to cater for everyone’s needs and when we had finished shopping, made for a relaxing and cool few hours.

With the help of the reception staff, we explored the Hoi An area. I have to say quite sincerely that I have never met such a trustworthy and trusting population as the Vietnamese people in this area. Rob and I always felt perfectly safe at all times. We did go to other parts of Vietnam later where I could not say the same! Shopping was great, prices were even better. The main market area is probably a half hour walk from the resort (or a cheap taxi ride) and you could buy pretty much anything you might need, including things my partner found he wished he had never asked for…having the hair in his ears threaded! However, we found a smaller market just a few minutes’ walk away, where the prices were even better although obviously with a little less choice. And there was a divine baker alongside the market who made the best buns, we visited him every day! Rob and I also did the Hoi An cuisine tour which included many delicious and mouthwatering moments. Another day we visited a local silk factory and undertook a bicycle tour. Part of the tour of the silk factory involved making our very own lantern, something we were able to take home with us. After that, we took the plunge and hopped on bicycles (it had been 45 years since we last rode bicycles!) to ride around the countryside viewing local agriculture and riding water buffalos. That was a wonderful and memorable day.

It goes without saying, if anyone is thinking of travelling to Vietnam, Karma Cay Tre is an outstanding winner. Don’t miss it! From the staff, accommodation, shopping, local attractions and cuisine, you won’t regret it. We will absolutely be returning. It is now our favourite resort and destination in Asia, although we are haven’t yet seen Cambodia…. Thank you Karma!”

“Dear Odyssey,
My husband and I enjoyed two weeks holiday, one week at the Royal Bella Vista in Chiang Mai and another at the Royal Lighthouse Phuket. We arrived in Chiang Mai after having spent a few days in Bangkok. After the hustle and bustle of Bangkok the calming atmosphere of Chiang Mai was a welcome change. Our accommodation was room 316 on the third floor which had a very nice view of the fields and mountains in the distance. Being on the end of the level there was a spacious balcony to enjoy the early morning coolness and an evening drink after the sun had gone down.

We took advantage of the onsite restaurant and were lucky enough to have had some enjoyable meals. For an alternative dining experience we went to a local restaurant, The 360, picks up and drops guests off free of change. We enjoyed a couple of very enjoyable evening meals at this restaurant which was well priced, pleasant staff and very tasty food. Our early morning walk always included a stop at The Doi for a very enjoyable latte. This is a super place for “real coffee” and has a pleasant outlook. The grounds are extremely well cared for and pleasant to stroll about. Just 300 metres up hill from the entry we enjoyed seeing local elephants with their handlers as they arrived for their morning exercise. We were welcome among the herd of elephants and able to pat and feed them.

We enjoyed a day trip to the Golden Triangle, which was arranged through the Karma staff onsite. This trip is highly recommended and made even more enjoyable with only 6 in our group. Our second week was spent in a spacious 2 bedroom villa at the Royal Lighthouse resort. We enjoyed the marina life very much. The villa was well equipped with well kept. The location of the Royal Lighthouse villas, away from the popular beachside resorts, did not concern us as transport was readily available so a day out at the beach was easily arranged. We spent many hours around the wonderful pool area enjoying the company of other residents and fellow members. Even though there is no onsite restaurant a local café provides poolside service if required. It was a relaxing location, surrounded by luxury boats and has plenty of choices for dining.

Everything you want to do in and around Phuket or Chiang Mai (tours, transport, dining …) can be arranged through the very efficient Karma staff”

KARMA ROYAL CANDIDASA

“We had a wonderful time and especially loved Candidasa and would highly recommend it to anyone. We had a minor problem on arrival in Denpasar when Jeff’s suitcase did not arrive so he had only the clothes he had on and we had no toiletries. This was a little bit of a problem as there was only one little shop outside of the hotel in Candidasa that sold clothes so as a result Jeff looked like a first time tourist - haha!!!!! (see attached photo). It became the talking point of everyone at the hotel and was quite funny.

We have been to Bali so many times it was so nice to stay in a place we had never been to. The hotel was so quaint and friendly. It only took a day and we were friends with everyone staying there and we now have new friends we keep in touch with. But best of all was the amazing setting. We just loved having breakfast looking at the ocean (see attached photo) and spent nearly every day on a pool lounge overlooking the water - it was just perfect. The little town of Candidasa felt like Bali did in the 80’s and had great restaurants and little shops which sold everything you needed. We enjoyed many meals at the hotel and loved how the local restaurants would pick you up and bring you home after a meal as it was just too far to walk. Although it doesn't have white sandy beaches we loved the surf crashing on the rocks and at low tide you could still walk along the beach and swim in the water. We did some lovely tours from Candidasa and I have attached a picture of us at Kintamani Volcano.

The staff at Candidasa were amazing. They new our names and were so engaging - they taught me a lot of Balinese which was great. The room was very clean but a bit small but that was fine as we only slept in there. The Karma Representative was very helpful and we now understand how to get the best out of our membership which will be invaluable for the future.

Our stay at Sanur was nice but we found it very very hot and missed the sea breeze you got at Candidasa. The room was lovely and very big. Because you could walk to Sanur we didn’t have the social contact with other guests like at Candidasa so spending time around the pool was not as much fun. We did love Sanur beach and the shopping area but it was just a shame that the hotel is a bit of a walk and is located on the wrong side of the main road. It was a bit scary crossing that main road to get into the Sanur tourist area and I would have to say that it is the biggest downfall for that motel and was a bit disappointing.

We did have a great time and if we go back to Bali it would be hard not to stay at Candidasa but it would be nice to try Ubud or Gili next time. We are hoping they will soon have a hotel in Vietnam or Cambodia as we would love to go there so fingers crossed that when we can have our next holiday we will get to try something new!!!!!
